Beijing, July 2005 / 6 tracks, 21’54”
Brugge, April 2004 / 7 tracks, 10’14”
These recordings comprise a form of audio-linguistic documentation of subjective experience and the perceived environment. Intricate details of clothing or the way a garment is worn become filters for understanding the city and the interactions that occur within it. Language is used to underscore the subjectivity of dress and ways of perceiving intimacy and distance between self and the outside world.
The tracks from the Brugge recordings were also created as writings dispersed anonymously in public spaces. The Beijing series was recorded with a homemade binaural microphone set, 'worn' clipped to the shoulders during recording (for best binaural quality, please listen with headphones).
